Senior Guy Sessions… and their hoodies…

Moms (and Dads)… I know… You had to TELL him he was doing senior portraits. Cue the eye rolls, huffs, and puffs. If that wasn’t you—consider yourself lucky! Most senior boys aren’t exactly jumping at the chance to get in front of a camera. Trust me, I’ve had dozens of them reluctantly show up. BUT, here’s the good news—I’ve got you covered! By the end of their session, they’re smiling, laughing, and even impressed with how good they look!

(PSSSSSTTTTT not into reading blogs? I’ve got you covered! Listen to this quick podcast while you view the photos!)

Whether we’re shooting in the urban cool streets of Downtown Orlando, the rustic vibe of Oviedo, or along the stunning beach backdrop of Cocoa Beach, I promise your senior will walk away happy, and you’ll have a gallery of photos you’ll both love.

Tips for Prepping Your Senior Guy for His Session:

  • Compromise! You pick one outfit, he picks one too. Often, parents end up loving the senior’s outfit choice because it feels authentic to *them*.
  • Okay, he picked a hoodie—no problem! Just make sure it’s clean and wrinkle-free, and we’ll make it work.
  • Feed him—seriously. A well-fed teenager is a happy teenager. Bribe him with food before and after the session to avoid any “hangry” moments.
  • Haircuts—if he’s not getting a buzzcut, make sure it’s done at least a week before the session so it looks natural. And while we are on grooming… unibrows… not a good look at anyone.

Mr. Bouchet and His Epic Session

Let’s talk about one of my favorite senior sessions from California (don’t worry Florida, your time is coming soon!). Mr. Bouchet showed up with his vintage car, and I was doing a happy dance! We chose an industrial setting for his portraits, and the urban vibe was perfect. His hoodie? Yep, it looked amazing—so, parents, don’t sweat it when they refuse to wear a button-down.

Even though we shot this session in California, I’m already imagining how well this look would translate to Downtown Orlando or the areas in Winter Park. The colors, the textures, and that car made for a session that stands out—no matter where we shot it.

Bring Their Personality to Life with Props

If your senior has a passion, bring it! Whether it’s skateboarding at skatepark in Oviedo, football in the fields of their high school, or even a favorite car, we’ll incorporate it into the session. These personal touches make a senior session even more special, and yes, you guessed it—hoodies are still welcome!

This senior actually had his session at Crissy Beach in San Francisco. He had changed into dry clothes for the drive home and were passing the Golden Gate Bridge and decided to stop. This picture of him in his going home clothes ended up being one of my absolute favorites of all time and was even published in Senior Szn Magazine. Literally, sweats, a hoodie and sneakers and this senior got one epic image to remember senior year. I know he’ll look back one day and show his kids how cool he was! It just goes to show—senior portraits don’t have to be all fancy to be memorable. Here in Central Florida, we can create that same laid-back vibe with locations like Lake Eola Park or even the beaches of Cocoa.

This senior guy looks hiking and nature so we hit the trails to grab some unforgettable images for his session. His mom picked one shirt for him and he chose the rest. But I want you to notice how he ACCESSORIZED! Yes, a nice watch really can complement an outfit!

Florida Vibes for Senior Guys

While I’ve captured some amazing sessions in California, I’m beyond excited to bring that same energy to Orlando, Oviedo, and beyond. From city streets to beaches, your senior guy’s session will feel authentic to him. And whether he’s in a hoodie, a button-down, or his favorite sneakers, we’ll make sure he walks away smiling!

Takeaways:
– Let him wear the hoodie.
– Bring his hobbies and passions.
– Choose great Florida locations like Downtown Orlando or Cocoa Beach.
– Trust me—I’ve got this, and he’ll walk away happy!
